EMDR Therapy

EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR, is an integrative therapy which builds upon the principals of many other psychological treatments. The primary focus of EMDR treatment is to allow the client, through unique brain stimulation, to reprocess traumatic events or other emotional roadblocks, and ultimately become desensitized to the memories or obstacles which may be at the root of many problems. To date, EMDR therapy has helped over 2,000,000 people find freedom from many types of psychological stress.

When a person is subjected to traumatic events, their mind may not fully comprehend and process the totality of the situation. This failure to process events thoroughly often manifests itself as a debilitating psychological condition (PTSD) which can prevent the individual from living in the present moment. EMDR therapy stimulates the mind into reprocessing the events so that they may begin to reconcile the memories internally and desensitize themselves to their traumatic nature. This enables and empowers the individual to once again be comfortable in their own skin.

EMDR is also used to help alleviate performance anxiety and to enhance the functioning of people at work and play. It helps to remove the emotional obstacles to performing optimally and enhances confidence and self-efficacy. As a EMDR Trained Therapist, I incorporate the many advantages of EMDR therapy into the course of treatment for my clients. It is an invaluable tool in assisting people with overcoming many of their personal or professional roadblocks.
